RANDBKA UBKA SHIELD WINNERS 2008

For the second year in a row, R&DBKA made it to the final three of the UBKA Shield, but this year,

"WE WON"

The shield plus a cash prize is awarded at the annual UBKA Conference which took place at Greenmount College on Friday 14th & Saturday 15th March and is awarded to an Affiliated local Beekeeping Association judged to have made the most progress during the previous year in:

The contribution their members are making to their beekeeping, to their Association and to the Community
Strengthening the role of their Association and UBKA
Promoting higher standards of beekeeping

The entries were then assessed in two stages:

First by an independent judge selecting the top three written entries submitted by Associations
Second by judging a five minute presentation by an individual on

How they personally benefited from membership
What contribution they are making to

Better beekeeeping
The development of their Association
Promoting beekeeping to the community

RANDBKA secretary Caroline Thomson, with support and advice from the committee submitted the written entry and made the presentation at the Conference.

RANDBKA are the recipients of a cheque for £100.00 towards Association funds and the Shield which we will keep for a year.
